Diablo is a Farr-designed Beneteau First 44.7, and for nearly twenty years she has shown exactly what this design was built for: going fast, in comfort, over long distances. On the race course she has been a consistent front-runner. Sailing off an IRC rating of 1.086, she has a long list of race and series wins both inshore and offshore, and she still holds the record for the Dubai to Muscat Race. Her sail wardrobe reflects that pedigree, with carbon racing sails, six spinnakers including an asymmetric, and a storm jib and trysail for serious offshore work.
What really sets Diablo apart is how well she has been looked after. Over the last few years almost every major system has been renewed: Dyform standing rigging, a new forestay and Facnor furler; the engine lifted and refurbished by Yanmar, with a rebuilt saildrive and a new clutch; lithium service batteries, a 160Ah alternator, a 2000W inverter and solar panels on the bimini; a full Raymarine Axiom, i70 and autopilot package; and a Coelmo 3.5kW generator.
On deck she has new teak in the cockpit and on the bathing platform, a new toe rail, biminis, sprayhood and cushions. Below the waterline she was Gelshield-treated in 2022 and freshly antifouled in August 2026. When the racing stops, she is every bit as good a cruising yacht. The classic cherry interior has an owner's cabin forward with en-suite heads and shower, two further double cabins, a second heads with shower, and a saloon with 2.03m headroom. Air conditioning, Webasto heating, a generator and a set of performance Dacron cruising sails, including a furling No.2, mean she is as happy on a family passage as she is on a start line.
Diablo is a proven race winner that is ready to go cruising tomorrow.
